The Regional Workforce Training System supported by Virginia Wesleyan University is providing students with a core of essential processes for advancement: Analytics, Business, Project, and Logistics Management, and Information Systems.

Participants will gain skills essential to project managers and those in support roles, with course materials aligned with the internationally recognized standards of project management. Oriented to concepts such as time, cost, risk, and communication. Once completed, participants will meet or exceed the educational prerequisites for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM庐) certification offered through the Project Management Institute (PMI庐). Hours count towards the 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM庐 certification.

You will learn to develop your company's organizational strategy and implement that strategy for business growth.

This program will help you understand how to use data, set realistic business goals using analytics, find ways to use data while integrating factual data into your company's operation. You will also learn the steps to take in creating an analytical strategy while finding new resources and technologies.

This workshop will provide the basics of supply chain management, operations and customer service. Participants will study movement and flow, standardization, honest information, shipping processes, document management for exporting and importing products, and transportation costs.

Dozens of logistics subject will be discussed: Rail cargo, container traffic, warehousing, just in time inventory, quality acceptance plans to name a few. In addition, students will learn purchasing strategy, pricing, bargaining and supplier evaluation.

The Information Systems Program is designed for individuals who seek to develop knowledge and skills that will allow them to work in environments that integrate business, organizational, and technical aspects of computer information systems. Students who graduate from the program may pursue careers in data analytics, computer user support, Internet technologies and applications, and other related fields.

The Information Systems Program consists of the following seven courses building 22 credit hours which may be applied toward a Bachelor鈥檚 degree (major or minor).

ISP 101: Fundamentals of Information Systems (3 Credit Hours)
Introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of utilizing information systems to help organizations achieve their goals and carry out their missions. Students should have a working knowledge of internet use and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics and e-mail.聽
No Prerequisite.

MBE 203: Accounting One, (3 Credit Hours)
A study of the basic principles and systems of accounts that underlie general purpose financial reporting. Includes the analysis of accounting transactions and how they affect the balance sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flows. Introduces students to financial statement ratios commonly used in evaluating for-profit organizations.聽
No Prerequisite.

July 8 through August 23 — Online Summer Session 5

ISP 105: Spreadsheet Software (3 Credit Hours)
Students explore current topics in the field of computer science/information systems beyond the 101 level. This includes computer networks, internet use, and ethical issues and legal issues related to the
use of information technology. Students learn the more advanced features of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics and e-mail.
No Prerequisite.

MBE 335: Accounting Information Systems (3 Credit Hours)
Students develop a conceptual framework for the development, implementation, and evaluation of an accounting information system. Primary topics include system understanding and documentation, risk
analysis, and typical accounting transaction cycles. The lab experience provides application provides application of system concepts to popular software application.
Prerequisite: MBE203

August 28 through October 18 — Fall Online Term 1

ISP 205: Database Management Systems (ACCESS) (3 Credit Hours)
This course incorporates instruction on planning, defining and using a database; It also provides instruction on how to perform queries; produce reports; work with multiple files.聽 Additionally, it addresses database programming. Includes database concepts, principles of table design and table relationships, entering data, creating and using forms, using data from different sources, and filtering.聽
No Prerequisite.

EES 300: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (4 Credit Hours)
Introduces the computer literate student to the underlying theory and practical applications of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Lectures are interwoven with hands on computer exercises that illustrate the principles, develop technical competence, and demonstrate the versatility of GIS. Individualized projects reinforce concepts and help students acquire the knowledge and confidence to use GIS outside the classroom.

ISP 400 October 23 through December 13 Fall Online Term 2

ISP 400: Project Management for IS (3 Credit Hours)
Designed to help students develop a theoretical understanding of project management in an information systems (IS) setting and provides the opportunity for the application of that theoretical base in real-world scenarios.聽 Students will utilize project management tools and techniques to develop project plans aimed at solving organizational problems.聽
Prerequisite:聽 ISP 101, ISP 105, ISP 205
