Virginia Wesleyan Announces New Board Members

VWU graduates Mavis McKenley and Doug Wilson join the Board of Trustees

Mavis McKenley '11 and Doug Wilson '86, both of Norfolk, have been elected to the 小奶猫直播 Board of Trustees, according to John F. Malbon, Chair of the Board. McKenley serves as Vice President and Trust Officer at AMG National Trust Bank, and Wilson is Executive Vice President of LifeNet Health.

小奶猫直播 is a private, non-profit institution governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees. Board members are elected on the basis of commitment to the programs and purposes of VWU. The Board establishes the broad guidelines of philosophy and institutional purpose and names the president to carry out their guidelines. The VWU Board has 31 elected members with the President of the University, Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church, two District Superintendents of the UMC, and Alumni Council Chair serving ex-officio.

Mavis (Escoffery) McKenley earned a B.A. in business from Virginia Wesleyan's Adult Studies Program in 2011. She is Vice President and Trust Officer at AMG National Trust Bank, and is also certified as an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP), Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). McKenley also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Norfolk Public Library, and previously served as president for her local estate planning council and as board president for Samaritan House, an area nonprofit that provides advocacy and services to victims of domestic violence and homeless families. In addition to those roles, she spent two terms on Virginia Wesleyan's Alumni Council and currently serves as Immediate Past Chair. She enjoys tennis, painting, and spending time with her son and her husband of over 30 years, Wayne. The family lives in Norfolk.

Doug WilsonDoug Wilson '86

Doug Wilson '86 earned his B.A. in political science (with a concentration in communication) from Virginia Wesleyan in 1986, and has spent his entire career in biologics. He started working in transplantation as an administrator for a blood center and joined LifeNet Health as a field representative in 1989. He went on to establish the marketing and sales departments at LifeNet, and in August 2006 was promoted to Executive Vice President. He is responsible for marketing and business development, corporate public relations, and legal matters. He also serves as Vice President of the LifeNet Health Foundation, which provides resources for the research and donor family support missions of LifeNet Health. Wilson has received the Public Relations Society of America Medallion Award for Excellence in Communications, and in 2017, Virginia Wesleyan honored him with its Distinguished Alumnus Award. He and his wife Cindy, who is also a Virginia Wesleyan graduate, have two children and reside in Norfolk.
