Faculty & Staff Go Head to Head in Summer Sports League
Lunchtime competition is back in full swing at VWU

The Summer Sports Lunchtime League has returned for another season with 31 athletes representing Academic Affairs, Advancement, Athletics, Campus Life, Dining Services, Enrollment, Finance, The Lighthouse, Marketing & Communications, Residence Life, and Student Activities.
The League is divided into two teams—Navy Anchors and Coastal Blue—and meets almost every Tuesday and Thursday between noon and 1 p.m. A wide range of sports is played, from kickball and wiffleball to sand volleyball, and even dodgeball. The team with the most wins at the end of the summer is hailed as the champion.
"The Summer Sports Lunchtime League has revealed completely new sides of colleagues— competitors, cheerleaders, and surprise athletes, says Sarah Guzzo, MBA ’22, Director of Student Activities, who has hosted the league for faculty and staff for the past two years. “It has been pure entertainment and a wonderful way to get to know one another outside of our roles. I've particularly enjoyed the camaraderie that has grown between our lunchtime league athletes.”
