VWC in the Media  
Eric Mazur, Gloria and David Furman Professor of Judaic Studies and Center for the Study of Religious Freedom Fellow, was featured in on Feb. 22 for a presentation he was scheduled to give March 6 at the Jewish Museum and Cultural Center. His talk was titled "The S.S. Quanza: Jewish Refugees and the Port of Norfolk." Mazur was also a guest on WHRV's talk radio show Another View on April 1, where he and Barbara Hamm Lee discussed "Race, Religion, Relationships and (Hopes for) Redemption." Recreation and Leisure Studies professor Wayne Pollock was a guest on WHRV's HearSay with Cathy Lewis March 23. He discussed the community partnership that has developed between Westminster-Canterbury, Eastern Virginia Medical School and VWC as a result of , a recent study of the impact of computer technology among dementia patients. Virginia Wesleyan's new EVMS Early Assurance Program was highlighted in the on March 24. Terry Lindvall, C.S. Lewis Endowed Chair in Communication and Christian Thought, was quoted in an April 4 article about The Babylon Bee, a Christian news satire website described in the article as "The Onion for the godly."

Class Notes
George Dow (1975) passed away unexpectedly on March 9.

Rod Bennett (1996) was named the 2016 Gloucester Daffodil Festival Print Artist.

Vanessa Castaneda (1999) was recently hired as reservations manager overseeing resort sales at Palmetto Dunes Resort on Hilton Head Island. She previously worked for group manager at Heritage Golf and has a range of experience in retail, luxury home building and golf. A native of Hamden, Connecticut, Castaneda, her husband, and their two young daughters, moved to Hilton Head Island from Michigan.

Thomas Taylor (2000), the Superintendent of Middlesex County Public Schools, was named Regional Superintendent of the Year for Region III, which is comprised of school divisions spanning from Gloucester to Fredericksburg in Virginia.

Dr. Adam Rosenbaum (2002) published his first book, (Cambridge University Press, February  2016). He is an assistant professor at Colorado Mesa University and received his Ph.D. from Emory.

Erica (Clarke) Tachoir (2005) married Evan Tachoir on March 5 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  She is the director of Career Services and instructor of communication at The Pennsylvania State University, Greater Allegheny Campus. Her husband is a recording artist and battle rapper. The newlyweds honeymooned in Las Vegas.

Ali Southard (2008) was selected as Teacher of the Year at Flat Rock Elementary School in Powhatan County, Virginia, where she's taught for four years. She will soon be interviewed by the district superintendent in consideration for Countywide Teacher of the Year.
